Annoying bank card checking

It annoys me that Apple/iTunes Store checks my bank card/account even when I update existing apps for free or download free apps and this for one main reason. I have security settings on my bank account that I can't use if I don't want to unlock and then lock my bank card again every time I download a free app or updates an app. That's really annoying and I guess that my bank isn't the only bank with security settings for different areas in the world or for Internet.

I can't see why this is necessary. If I download a free app or update existing apps for free there's no reason to check,  right?

  1. Some empirical research shows that the bank card must be open for Internet transactions to allow the test Apple does before I can update existing apps. That kind of sucks because if there is something I would like to have closed besides transactions from, say, China it is transactions via Internet. 'm going to look into the possibility of adding funds to an Apple ID account and thereby not having to have a card connected to it (at least that's possible according to a colleguage).

  2. Seems like updating actually might work but downloading a new free application with Internet purchases blocked on the bank account/card is a no-go.
